The journey begins at 8.30 am from Rurrenabaque, with comfortable cars in a 3-hour ride to Santa Rosa. On the way, you will be able to see many species of birds, capybaras and even sloths. Arrival at Santa Rosa's port and after lunch, we will travel by river to the Refugio. Day 2 - Pampas - Rurrenabaque - Madidi

The day begins early, around 5 am since we want to listen to the incredible sound of the howler monkeys and many bird species that announce a new day! After breakfast, we will do a short excursion through small woods and lagoons. With a little luck, we might even see the "anaconda"!

Boat back to Santa Rosa and from there with the car back to Rurrenabaque. Departure from the port of Rurrenabaque by boat sailing across the Beni River. On the way, it will be possible to see the last range of the Andean Mountains that divides the Altiplano and the Amazon, along with the controversial Canyon of Bala, the place where several Bolivian governments intend to build a dam. Going further up the Beni River, the group will pay an entrance fee to enter the Madidi National Park and later turn right into the Tuichi River. The boat ride takes about 4 hours. Walk through the Wabu Path for about 30 minutes, until we reach the camp on the banks of the Mashi Lagoon.

Accommodation in tree tents, usage instructions, and short rest. Later in the afternoon, we will start a guided walk along the Lucachi Trail for 3 hours where we will see a labyrinth of exotic trees and plants that lead to the nesting place of some bird species such as the red macaw (Ara chloropterus), blue-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna) and other smaller birds from the same family. During the tour you will have the opportunity to observe an endemic species of the Madidi, the lucachi monkey (Callicebus aureipalatii). Then we will walk back to the camp. Dinner, and later we will have the opportunity to join on a night walk into the jungle. At night, the jungle is still alive and offers a wide diversity of animals and insects. We could find some praying mantis (Brunneria subaptera), sword nose bat (Lonchorhina aurita), and a variety of tarantulas.

Day 3 - Madidi National Park

07:30 Breakfast, then we will enjoy a walk along the Tejón trail, for about 3 hours. In this trail we will have the opportunity to see peccaries (Tayassu pecari), capuchin monkeys (Sapajus apella), and red howler monkeys (Alouatta sara). And to make it even more interesting we will learn about different species of trees within the primary forest, some of them being more than 300 years old. Some of these species have a higher value in the market than gold. Some of these giants are the famous mara tree (Swietenia macrophylla king) and cedar (Cedrela odorata L.).
There will also be chances to spot a variety of birds, such as macaws, toucans, and the ancient bird of serere (Opisthocomus hoazín). Then we will walk back to the camp for lunch.

12.30 We will enjoy lunch at the camp and will have some time to recover energies to go ahead exploring the jungle. 15:00 After lunch, we will have some time on the Lagoon Mashi. This is going to be the perfect time to go fishing for piranhas. If we get some good fishes, we will take them for dinner. During the fishing, we will be able to see some capuchin monkeys and some species of birds that are part of the ecosystem around the lagoon.
19:30 Dinner, and later, we will enjoy a cultural talk with our guides. They will share with the group some local tales and legends of their communities. It is going to be a good chance to learn about living in the jungle.

Birds will join to the orchestra to indicate that a new day has begun. We will start walking into the Piwarola Trail where we will learn about medicinal and poisonous plants and how the communities use them as medicine and food. Later we will move back to the camp for lunch. 12:30 Lunch and some time to rest. 13:30 We will return to Rurrenabaque taking the Wabu Trail to the port in River Tuichi where our boat will depart on the way to Rurrenabaque.
